He has been in a hospice house for 3 days and it has been wonderful for him!! For the first time in weeks his pain is alleviated and that makes him great full! We know every hour that passes is a blessing because we including hospice keep thinking THIS is it then he pulls thru! Just thanking all for his prayers and these nurses are Angels!!! We sit here 20 hrs a day and just be w bim
FIL DX JAN 29, 2011 stage 4 Squamous cell carcinoma inoperable due to his overall health. started treatment: March 2011. feeding tube and TRACH finished 39 radiations and weekly chemos JUNE.. June- 3 weeks in hospital for pneumonia July-pet scan showed slightly better OCT- hospice care, cancer all thru body

| | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 28 Contributing Member (25+ posts) | OP Contributing Member (25+ posts) Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 28 | quick update, mick is now no longer able to communicate at all  it has been happening slowly over the past few days, it was mouthing words, and trying to write, than to small blinks and half smiles....to hand squeezes and eye flutters but now nothing  it is sad however we know that means he feels little to no pain.....we feel he can still hear us so we talk to him while we are there and hold his hand and play him music.......we know it can be any time but at same time his vitals are all in normal range......just feel blessed to have had this journey w him and for him to know he is loved!!

This is a very sad stage. A sign that death is coming soon is a rattle noise when breathing.
He is blessed to be surrounded by an abundance of love. I'm sure it means more to him than you will ever know. He is lucky to have you caring for him.

Ex-spouse MISDIAGNOSED with SCC-HN IVa 12/10. Tonsils out 1/11. 4 teeth out 2/11. TX Erbitux x2, IMRT x2 2/11. 2nd opinion-benign BCC-NOT CANCER 3/11. TX stopped 3/11. New doctors 4/11. ENT agrees with 2nd opinion 5/11. ENT scoped him-all clear 7/11. Ordered MRI anyway. MRI 8/22/11 Result-all clear.
