Like he's run out of energy. Yesterday he was outside and he blew the leaves into a pile because we were stuffing those orange pumpkins bags and they weren't the big ones just the little ones and he put the bag into a 5 gallon bucket and barely got 3 done and had to go sit down. I do not like this. He has an apt Nov 7th I think it is, he said it's just the weather and he is feeling the time changing already but again today he went to laydown for a nap, even though last week he didn't nap all day one day and did good. I told him see if finding himself something to keep him occupied besides sitting and watching the idiot box all day helps give him any kind of energy without really exerting himself too much. I'm gonna keep an eye on him. He has still been eating thought and thats good.

Glad that Ron is doing so well with his eating. That plays a huge part in recovery. From some of the things Ive seen you post on FB, you are an excellent cook! Ron is a lucky lucky man, you are a very good caregiver!!!! Try not to get too concerned about his lack of energy. I have alot of ups and downs too. Over the summer I was sick off and on for 3 months. Some days I feel ok but dont have much stamina so its a couch day for me. It comes and goes and Ive finished my treatments 4 years ago. For Ron, he only finished radiation a little over a year ago, plus he had a recurrence. It can take up to 2 full years for a complete recovery from radiation treatments. Hope tomorrow is a better day!

He took a nap and when I got home he said he felt much better. He took out the trash as he normally does. I'm just worried. I know I've read about the tiredness that continues for a long time. And yes I've been told I'm a good cook Christine, my son is a Sous Chef trying to be an Exec Chef one day. So yes we all love to cook. This weekend I am doing a Clambake on Sunday for Ron's birthday. Should be a nice day, I usually do them on a Saturday so we can hang out and party the night away with a nice Bonfire but my kids and significant others all work on Saturdays usually except for 1 of them. And this past Sat they all got off for a Wedding so doubt if their job will allow them another Sat off. So Sunday it is and that is Ron's birthday too! smile

I would hate to think that someone was watching how much I napped!! I know there is a God when you are allowed a delicious nap smile

Seriously, treatment and what I think is inevitable depression gets a brutal grip on your energy levels. This - for some - recovers in time (Christine said 2 years post radiation), however for me it has not changed in the last 3 1/2 years since the end of my second radiation. I am told that is because of the second course of radiation. I have attended a couple of seminars designed to help cancer patients with fatigue, and I do some of the things they suggest, but mostly I just let my body tell me when it needs to rest. Some days are better than others.

Yesterday I volunteered at a Mission which served Thanksgiving Dinner. I felt great the whole time I was there and had only a brief nap before our family Thanksgiving dinner. Today, I feel like a truck ran over me. And, it backed up to make sure it got me!! I am WIPED. I continue to work at being active which I know increases energy levels. In the meantime, I try to be kind to myself and accept that there are life altering side effects to this treatment.

Take Care.

Oh ya I don't mind when he naps, he's been doing that since his bout with Non Hodgkins 4 yrs ago, but he never has said "I've been feeling really tired lately" outloud like he did. And not to be weird but our Pit she's been whining again and staring at him with sad puppy eyes and licking his face again...last time she did all that he had the 2nd bout. It scares the hell out of us when she does that, like she smells the cancer...

"Cancer fatigue" is a well known side effect of treatment and it's aftermath and we all respond differently according to our age and response to treatment. I suffered varying degrees of fatigue for almost 2 years post Tx., Others were back to their normal routines much faster, in any case it's normal and nothing to worry about. I still like a good afternoon nap.
