| Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 188 Senior Member (100+ posts) | OP Senior Member (100+ posts) Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 188 | final week of tx. unbelievable journey. another 103 temp and another er visit but this time the regional hospital kept him for potential pneumonia, which became a nail biter as treatment days got skipped (we travel daily for treatment and could not take him or get a transfer.) watched him decline physically and emotionally as they treated him with limited knowledge of his condition. a social worker even suggested that "we just do his treatment there" !! and even after explaining to her why that was not possible she still did not understand.
i suspected no bacterial pneumonia. correct. they discharged him with arythromycin, his RO almost laughed at that. i could not get him released or transferred as the CCC had no bed and the local hospital would not release him, a very frustrating 48 hours.
back on final week of rads. his RO stepped in to advise us they reviewed his film from the scope, and that there is no sign of his BOT tumor. we are cautiously jubilant while he is too spiraled down to really grasp this, which is heartbreaking. so hoping he comes back to us soon!

Caco CG to Dad. Biopsy 5/11 non-op, SCC stage IV poorly dif at base of tongue with nodes, quit smoking in '85, ChemoRad began 8/2/11 ended 9/22/11 with NED. Distant mets 11/11, clinical trials. War raging on!

dx mucoideperdermoid stage 1 .9cm tumor removed from lower left tongue 5-3-11 rad 5-31-11 till 8-10-11 three weeks off in june 9 days in hospital healing mouth from radiation burns. 33 days of radiation.wife is caregiver peg tube july 7-11 age 59 male.
