We had fantastic news today at Eddie's first follow up appointment. We saw the ENT and chemo doc. They were both happy to see Eddie's progress. They both were joking about how he does not even look like he had treatment. His blood work showed that his counts are a little low but not dangerous. His white count is coming up and platelets are still a bit low but that helped him to understand why he is still tired some days. The best part came when the ENT scoped his throat with a camera through his nose (yuck) but she said that there is absolutely nothing there any longer and she could not feel anything in his lymph nodes either. We were thrilled. We still need to see the PET scan in November but were very encouraged today.
This has been a long haul for him but we know that they will follow him for the next year and monitor his progress. We are relieved for now.
And I am finally emerging from my role as a nurse. Now I am just a nutritionist and wife.
Thanks to all of you who post and support me. For those that are new to this disease, there is a light at the end of the long, dark tunnel. Stay positive and fight the good fight. My Dean said to me today when I told her the news that my husband is a fighter from the Bronx and that is why he kicked the sh*t out of this disease. She expected nothing less. Do the same for yourselves, fight and expect nothing less. Crying so have to go.

We also congratulate you for being his great caregiver, without whom, he would not have fared so well.

The support I received from this site and your wisdom helped me to get through all of this. I can only wish that those who are entering this difficult journey will stay strong and listen to the wonderful advice given here. The medical world makes advances every day so that cancer will soon lose the battle completely.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
