My name is Tabitha. Last week we found out my 56 year old father has oral cancer (floor of the mouth) and it has spread to his lymphnodes. He is getting CAT scans done today to find out if it has spread to the lungs, stomach, spleen, liver, etc. My grandmother, his mother, was diagnosed when she was 56 w/ breast cancer and lived 7 years before the cancer spread and she eventually lost her battle.

I am glad I found this forum and I am sharing info w/ my family as well as getting a LOT of q's answered.

I want to thank everyone for sharing so that through your experiences I can learn.

Tabitha

Welcome to OCF. While I am sorry that yet another person is affected by this disease, I am glad that you have found us. I think you will find these boards populated by some very knowledgeable and caring individuals, who have been down the paths of either caregiver or patient before you. Take the time to read through the body of the site, particularly the treatment sections and the complications page found in the dental section. When you don't find what you are looking for, someone here will undoubtedly have been through it before and help you out. Be strong, it is a long process, but doable with support from those around you, and from your new "cyber" friends here at OCF.

Thanks Brian,

I have been all over this board, gathering as much info as possible, both for myself and for my dad.

It is my nature to act rather than sit, so I will do all I can. Which is why I am glad my aunt found this site and recommended it to me. I hope to be a part of this group for a long time...while my father is a patient, and then hopefully a survivor.

Thanks again, Tabitha

Kim,

Thanks for the welcome. I was just reading your posts on Dave. It is so nice to read the survivor stories and nice of you to stay to inspire others, like myself, just starting the battle.

I will post the info we get from the oncologist Friday and I am sure this will open another flood gate of questions for me.

Just glad I have somewhere to take them to.

Tabitha smile
