Sorry to hear that your moms situation is not good. It brings tears to my eyes to hear this.
As others have said We never really know when our time is up.
The biggest gift you all can give her is to continue to show the love and if possible go have fun times with her. Those will be the memories you will keep forever. Make the last days the best days so to speak.

2004 SCC R.tip 1/4 tongue Oct. 2005 R. Neck SCC cancer/Chemo Cisplatin 2x/8wks. Rad. Removed Jugular vein, Lymph gland & some neck muscle. TX finished 1/20/06... B.Cancer 3/29/07 Finished 6/07 Bi-op 7/15/09 SCC in-situ, laser surgery removed from 1st. sight. Right jaw replacement 11/3/14. 9 yrs cancer free as of Jan. 2015

Wife/Carer of Rod, 56, Dx 5/3/09, SCC Oropharnyx T4 N2, End Tx 28th 07/09, 7wks Rad, 3 Cisplatin, primary tonsil, 4cm Lymph right of neck, 1cm left, in jaw & soft palate & base of tongue. Peg 06/09. CT & PET scans 02/11 - NED. Dentures 20/09/11, PEG out 28/10/11.

Where did you hear OC can't spread below the neck? I did not think that was out of the question. I'm pretty sure any kind of cancer can spread anywhere. I'm sure someone who knows will fill us in!

Julieann Nov 2007 SCC on right tonsil following tonsillectomy. Was smoker, QUIT. (Stage IV T2 N2b) 7 weeks radiation one day/wk chemo (carboplatin and 5-FU). Allergic to Taxol; PEG in, lost 30 lbs. TX completed January 2008. PEG out mid- 2008. Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 5,264 Likes: 5 | OC can spread below the neck... I am not sure but maybe she meant that she didn't realize rachael's mom's cancer had spread below the neck? That's what thought when I read her reply though I'm sure she'll clarify. Usually after neck metastasis it heads to the lungs. A scary prospect. Take care.
