My best friend in the whole world that is also my husbands best friend and also his business partner found out monday he has sqamous cell carcinoma it is on the corner of the lip and inside the cheek.I have been so scared and so worried.I am a nurse and have seen people suffer and die over and over again from this horrible disease.I had never had a patient or new anyone with oral cancer.I looked at several sites on the net and they scared the hell out of me all I could do was cry but this site makes me feel alot better. We saw the doctor yesterday and he acted like no big deal.He is to have surgery and plastic surgery to reconstruct his lip no chemo or rad thankyou god I was so releived. But as a nurse that old metastic word stays in my mind but I see two, five even 19 yr survivers that has helped me alot.I just need some input on this hearing other people experiences help alot we are haveing the surgery within the next two weeks frown

Sounds like pretty good news for you.........but let me tell you first hand, sometimes being a nurse is the worst thing to be!! I`m an LPN and cancer survivor, and my wife is an RN..........She always sees the worst case scenerio.........neither of us ever saw oral cancer, we`ve both always been psych nurses.....everybody always seems to think if you`re a nurse you can handle this stuff.....but when it hits home your brain flies out the window and your emotions take over!!!! Hang in there, you can do it!!!
