Hi, again. My mother had her surgery Tuesday July 2nd and had about one-fourth to one-third of her tongue removed (has some artificial skin on it to help with healing). She also had all the lymph nodes on the left side of her neck removed. Two hours after her surgery, she was talking and drinking clear liquids and acting fairly perky. So far, we are astonished at how well she is doing (she is 84). The surgeon feels she can probably come home from the hospital tomorrow.
We don't know what the follow-up treatment will be. We are just happy, at this point, that the surgery went well. We will deal with things as they come along. I am planning to stick close to this website and learn what I can.
Thanks to all for your support. --Sandra--
