It continiues after TX and even through the weekends as the rads continue to work. Here's what I've started. Using Biafine right after TX and throughout the night> Washing it off early am as to not have any there during the rads. Now my NP has perscribed someting called Domeboro. According to her it is meant to dry the burns up so that they don't get too thick and built up. I'm only on day 2 of it so I can't tell yet how much it is working. It seems to make sense that I would not want the scabs getting too built up. She described how applying and removing the Domeboro with the gause acts like a VERY gentle dermabrassion. Blotting...not rubbing. Like I have said in the past...I am not very concerned about the "short term" side effects. It's the "long them" things that I really want to inimize for obvious reasons. Can anyone please give me some feedback / advise. Thanks. Will

I am not familiar with Domeboro. Many here have used Aquaphor, it didnt work for me. I used Beta-Val cream. I had open oozing wounds on my neck from rads. Surprisingly, I do not have any scars. Most important is the patting it on and not to rub your delicate skin. Do not apply a few hours before going to radiation but put it on immediately after. I would put mine on in the car on the way home, then pat it on again after my shower and before bedtime.

I believe the stuff has been around for quite a few years but it really helped. I just smeared it all over the burns every day. Started to feel relief almost immediately. You might ask your doc about it.

Biafine topical emulsion. Very good moisturizer. Very soothing. I leave it on for a long time. My family will love it during sun burn season which is very shout in Maine.
Aquaphor. Goes on thick like vasoline but thins out as body heat warms it up. It keeps scabs from forming hard and makes them like yellow mushy things that wash right off with the sprayer from the kitchen sink. This is gross but on the towell the yellow mush smells like burning felsh so I know I don't want it hanging around on my face.
Domeboro. I use this in the morning before rad TX. It dries me right up. Stops the leaching of liquids which is good for before treatment.
Manuka.... I'm also using the honey. I generally use it between the Biafine (wash /rince)and the Aquaphor. It goes on quite sticky but will thin out as your face heat warms it up. I'll warn you that it will start to burn a tiny bit. I deal with it for 5-8 mins and spray it off with the kitchen sink sprayer. I'm doing this because of what you wrote about the honey when you were telling everyone how smart I am. (thanks for that by the way. I have to turn sideways to get my fat head through doors now). You know about the anti-fungal, antibiotic, and cleansing nature of it that you looked uo on line. Anything to prevent infection. BTW...hump day of week 6. I feel pretty good. No peg. Last Thursday I was told by the first medical professional that I would probably get away without the PEG. AND....It was the nutritionilist of all people. So psyched. Thank you soooo much for all your support and for always being a few days behind me. Sorry, but it actually helps. PS check your personal msgs.

I tried everything, and then my chemo doctor suggested the sulfadiazine cream, which outdid the others for me. My neck was so burned, pieces of skin would peel off like burned bacon. I would put globs of the cream on my neck, and especially at bedtime, I would put a towel over the cream after I put it on. Anyway, today you could never tell that I had such a horrible looking/feeling neck - no scars or anything. They use the cream on burn patients in hospitals. Good luck. If what you are using works, that's great. If not, try this. julieann

I bought mine at the co op but it can be purchased in many health food stores. for the really bad burns with open wounds I got a prescription that worked great and it is called Xenaderm Both were very soothing and seemed to be the only thing that worked.
