With our compromised saliva system leaving our oral cavity in an unstable condition and even perhaps a somewhat compromised immune system we fight thrush constantly. I believe I have had it about once a year since end of Tx.

Ive hear white sugar is a culprit - and I know your gonna hate me for saying it - try Manuka honey - a tablespoon 3 times a day - hold it in your mouth and swish it 2 min and swallow - cleared up my rads sores in 3 days. It's anti bacteria, anti infection, andi inflammatory! Works like a dream! Good luck...

Can someone expand on what thrush actually is? Is it the ropey saliva, the dry mouth, the combination of the two? Curious. Thanks. Will

hello, i think what my dad is more concerned about is the face that he was on the Dilfucan for 5 days and is off now and the thrush is still present, not as bad but still there.. he does not eat any foods by mouth yet, just the G-tube.. he is on the comudin, so the two together are not good, so he had to get off the cumadin for those 5days.. of course when he seen the white in his mouth he immediately went into panic, which i am sure you can all relate to! after all this! treatments last year, and big surgery december 2010, what now? frown.. thank you all for your responses!

Wow, sorry to hear about that reocurrence. Would you mind telling me where it was to began with and where the re-occur happened after the chemo-rads? Maybe I shouldn't hear it. I'm 9 treatments away from finishing my rads and chemo.

Thrush is (usually) a very painful infection in the oral cavity (I've only had it on my tongue) that is caused by our lack of proper saliva concentrations causing an imbalance of our natural flora such as numerous bacteria and beneficial fungus.
