For the past week though, my tongue has this thick, "inflated", swollen feeling with a little soreness and I have a metalic taste in my mouth. There doesn't seem to be any swelling or inflammation when I look at the area. The feeling of thickness/inflation has been intermittent but for the past two days it seems constant. I am wodering if anyone else who has had a glossectomy has had this type of feeling in their tongue. I am just getting over shingles of the brow area and scalp (just finished Valtrex) so maybe everything is just a little more sensitive. Shingles on right side - same as resection. Any thoughts?

I'm guessing it has something to do with the lymph node removals that I had. Keep an eye on it but I wouldn't lose any sleep at the moment unless you see a significant change that goes and stays in the wrong direction.

It's very possible that it's the shingles, drugs or nodes that are an issue. I would give it another week or two at the most and then hit your ENT guy if it doesn't clear - don't wait - at that point. Best of luck!

I took a book light to my tongue and I have a hard, clear cyst-like bubble that is right along the incision site. It's small in size but sore to the touch. It also looks like the blood vessels on the floor of my mouth are being "pulled" towards it. I put a call in to my doctor and am waiting to hear from the resident on-call. I tend not to be a worrier but today I am worried.
