I'm plugging my ears and nose while drinking tons of water but they only go away for a few minutes. Pluss...I'm up all night going to the bathroom because of all the water. Can anyone give me some advise please?

I gobbled percocets/roxicets during my TX so it's not like I'm not familiar with them. The mayo clinic says barbiturates can cause hiccups but roxicet is not a barbiturate. Hiccup Causes- Mayo clinic My serious advice is to ask your doctors. You have come up with what is to me a totally unique cancer TX symptom. Charm

Bill battled mondo hiccups a day or so after his weekly chemo that would last for hours and days. After the third round, his MO prescribed...get this....thorazine. Worked miracles.
Bill was not the only one to experience this. When I queried this board..a couple of other people reported the same thing. I see you are doing Carbo/Taxol...Bill did Cis/Taxol so wonder if its the Taxol??
Talk to your MO..he may know what to do.

It could be any one of several things but as a recovering addict I recognise the "dope" hickups. If I go 7 hrs without the Roxicet the hickups go away....then the pain starts

Maybe you need a different kind of pain medication???

An upside was that I drank crazy amounts of water trying to get rid of them. I plug my ears and nose and drink almost a pint of (not too cold) water. I know lots of water is very important during TX. I'm pretty sure it was from the Roxicet as I have experienced that before. I think I over did the pain meds a bit after my first day of chemo because I fealt great. I know that sounds crazy. I think you kinda need to be an addict (like me) to understand that. I will be talking to my Dr's tomorrow about the Fentynal patch because it will give me a more even dose, work aound the clock, and be less of a temptation for me to "over do it". The lsat thing I'll need when I'm done with all this is to have to check into another re-hab. If it gets unbearable and I have to go back to lots of Roxicet I'll ask about Thorizine but I'm hopingf it won't come to that. Thanks for all the great feedback and advise. I would REALLY be lost without all of you folks. I owe you a lot, and I am looking forward to being able to give back to this community (and it's new commers)long after I have won this battle.

A lot of patients here had the fentynal patch and then some other pain med for breakthru pain so you may not be done with pills unfortunately. For Bill, the patch was enough.
Keeping hydrated(as well as proper nutrition) is so important right now because your body needs optimal amounts of both to withstand the onslaught of rads/chemo and then to heal.
The reason you feel good after chemo is the steroids (in Bill's case..Dacadron) that they administer as part of your chemo cocktail. That hypes you up for about 24 hours after each treatment. I did not understand that at first...Bill would be raring to work and go go go after the first few treatments. Not so much later in the game when he was so sick. Just so you know....
Wishing you the best,
Deb

You sound just like my RO and MO telling me to just wait for how awfull it's gonna get. I'm joking but I know you can relate. 2 chemos down and 2 to go. 2.5 weeks of rads left. I think I'm pretty lucky.
