My husband had his first post-treatment cat scan two days ago and yesterday we learned that there is no sign of cancer. He will have a pet scan in a month or so - so we realize this is just the first of many scans but we are so relieved! He had lots of side effects from treatment and is slowly recovering so we are so happy to finally have some good news. This was all so difficult!

That is fantastic! Waiting for scan results is awful, but good results are worth it!!!

Sophie,

Great news but also keep in mind that during this healing process he may have some "negatives" show up in the scans from the healing process which are normal and usually resolve themselves before the next scan when unfortunately others may appear. My first scan was clean and my next 2 had some spots in my lungs which, no matter what the docs said, bothered me and my wife but they went away just as I was told and I have been clean ever since.

May you never have remarkable scans but just in case remember what I said.

Thanks for the well wishes!

and David- thanks for reminding me about the scans that can show "temporary" spots. I know if that happens to us we will worry no matter what the docs say. Was it cat scans or pet scans that showed the spots?

Cats. I only had one Pet and that was at the Dx stage. I've had 5 post Tx Cats and the first 2 were suspicious in the lungs, UGH and of course they told us "don't worry, it's quite common"....yeah right, don't worry over something as trivial as spots in your lungs after you have been treated for a Stage 4 cancer and was told during Tx that it could reoccur in your lungs!!!!

Anyway they did resolve themselves and the last 3 cats were unremarkable. Lucky for them!!
