Now I hope your husband is enjoying all his favorite foods and then having seconds! Its a good idea to bulk up a little since treatments usually end up with the patient losing weight. Also his sense of taste will change, it will return but for a while things wont taste like they should. Best of luck with everything! We are here for any questions. Make sure TSH is included in the blood work. I would ask for that in all future blood taken and keep those reports.

Love the check list - looks like mine and it all starts Friday - then prep work. Scary but glad to be moving forward - doing nothing makes me nervous.
Best of luck!

David's suggestion is a good one that I wish I'd known about before I started RT. Even with all the excellent IMRT most of us are getting, the thyroid still gets blasted apparently, mine included. You can read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thyroid-stimulating_hormoneThe rest of that list looks great! I'm assuming you just left off all the little things - liquid nutrition, neck creams, mouthwashes, etc., etc. To say nothing of preparing for possible pain/nausea relief. Sure your docs have spoken to you about all this; we're also all here to help. d2 PS
While my CCC doctors were top notch on Cancer, for related issues like Thyroid - "not so much". I was not only extremely tired but also froze for two years, even in summer, and kept a winter coat on in air conditioned places yet I was constantly told: "Your TSH levels are normal" and I did not ask for the actual numbers or test results. Turns out however there is controversy over what is the right TSH level with labs having a 5.5 or a 4.5 as okay even though endocrinologists who went to Medical school the 21st Century consider 3.0 as the highest acceptable level. Before TX, I had a TSH of 1.6 and after TX it shot up to 4.3. Now that I am "on the pill", I am finally warm again. Plus my energy is back and my TSH is back to 1.48
Charm 65 yr Old Frack Stage IV BOT T3N2M0 HPV 16+ 2007:72GY IMRT(40) 8 ERBITUX No PEG 2008:CANCER BACK Salvage Surgery 25GY-CyberKnife(5) 3 Carboplatin Apaghia /G button 2012: CANCER BACK -left tonsilar fossa 40GY-CyberKnife(5) 3 Carboplatin Passed away 4-29-13
