It is not an easy road to go down for sure. I totally agree with the rinses that Christine suggested. Magic mouthwash didn't do much for me but the other one really helped with the sores. I was small and lost too much weight during treatment to need a feeding tube and am still on a feeding tube but I did not react well to rads and needed several surgeries after. I also lack motivation which sounds like your daughter is dealing with. Which is probably part of some depression too. I will be getting some meds for mine after I am healed from my surgery next week. I would also recommend your daughter talking to some people on this site if not getting on herself. It took me a while to get on here but I am so happy I did. I have met some great people. It sucks being young and going through this. If she wants to talk to someone she can email me.
I didn't see where the cancer is located? I understand that the doctor wants to preserve quality of life. Glad you found us all here and I hope that we can help both you and your daughter get through this the best that you can.

But I will talk to her about the rinses. She has been given one however she was told she can't use it all the time and it only numbs her mouth for twenty minutes at a time. Not sure the name of it.
Her tumor is underneath her tongue. Her TNM is T1N0M0 not sure if I put said that already.
I will let her know she can find comfort, compassion and friends from this wonderful place.
Let's keep in touch and I will put you in my prayers.

But the other one that is baking soda, salt and water is one that you should use a lot and what it does is help bring the pH level in your mouth closer to where it was. That was the only thing that helped with the sores. I can understand from a mother stand point that it wouldn't be enough and my mom struggles with me and my lack of motivation. I can do more than I used to be able to and should be doing more for myself. It's hard.
I will also put you all in my prayers. It's not a easy road but one you can get through.

I have good days (and today is one of them) and I have bad days. I don't want to let her out of my sight. Just seeing her makes my heart swell with love and strength. So I will keep relying on friends and family and continue to pray.
I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure she was a very special person to you as well as a lot of other people. Keep her memory alive and with you each and every day. One idea is to find a perennial flower in her favorite color and give one to family and friends to plant in her honor. And you make a special garden around your house and when people want to give you a present whether it be for your birthday, anniversary or mother's day ask them to contribute something to this special garden. This could be a special place for you to be when you want to feel closer to her. Anyway, God Bless to you. And thanks again for your kind words.

I do so appreciate your kinds words. Knowing that I am not alone in my feelings and worries is comforting.
The reason for no surgery at this time is the location of it. They are afraid it would damage her eating, swallowing and speaking ability. They want to use that as a last resort.
And actually knowing that there are other people doing well with their treatment gives me a different kind of peace. That this horrific disease is not going to win all the time. And that by banding together and praying with masses that we can and will prevail.
Thank you and please keep us informed on your recovery.
