What is up with all this. I have been having dizzy spells now for three days, have an ulcer on my left gum between two molars, noticed a lump on the inside of my right cheek, and sore throat that has been there for a few weeks. Started antibiotics last Wednesday, and it has helped with coughing, but not the sore throat or anything else. I have a call into my ENT and RO to see what we need to do. This is getting so very old. How am I supposed to drive 45 miles while dizzy to HBO.

I would also get dizzy spells and still occasionally do. In my case I think some of it might have had to do with all the weight I lost during treatment coupled with my relative height - especially as I'd usually get dizzy when standing up too quickly.

But I also had a condition a few years earlier that was diagnosed by a neurologist and could also be at play here, called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (let's emphasis the benign part...)

Naturally this might have nothing to do with your own dizziness, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

After about 20 HBO treatments my vision became blurred and caused some dizziness. I felt light headed. Has your vision been affected? Most peoples vision slowly returns to normal once treatments finish. A small percentage can have permanent eyesight damage from HBO.

That is a side effect no one told me about. UGH!

Im not sure but I think you told me you only got the tubes in one ear. Am I completely off the wall with that, or do you only have it on one side? If so that could be the cause of your dizziness. And yes, the vision can affect some people. It didnt bother me at all the first 85 HBOs I did, but the last 40 I had vision problems. It was so bad I probably shouldnt have been driving, I couldnt read road signs but could see people and cars but not clearly. Feel better!!!!!

I had a couple bouts of vertigo (not related to OC). My ENT assured me I wouldn't pass out when I did the exercises. It was scary, but I got through it.

Yes Marlene, it's scary indeed! There were a few times when I'd wake up in the middle of the night and turn my head... and the room would start spinning out of control. Jeesh. But easily licked with those exercises.

That feeling plus the solid three months of nausea I went through post-RT have pretty much soured me on rollercoasters. Not that I liked them before of course.

Well, want you all to know that the dizziness went away as soon as I got of the antibiotics. Now as far as the gum ulcer, he said it was too small to do anything with right now and we need to keep any eye on it. I will see him again in two months or before if things get worse. They are always good about getting me in the same day if I have a concern.
