Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.

I've been struggling heavily with feeling depressed and haven't wanted to bring that feeling to the board. I read everynight but haven't posted to often. You've been to good a friend for me to cause you worry, I'm fine, just struggling with being back at square one again.

SCC Left Mandible. Jaw replaced with bone from leg. Neck disection, 37 radiation treatments. Recurrence 8-28-07, stage 2, tongue. One third of tongue removed 10-4-07. 5-23-08 chemo started for tumor behind swallowing passage, Our good friend and much loved OCF member Minnie has been lost to the disease (RIP 10-29-08). We will all miss her greatly.

The physical stuff is tough enough, but the mental part makes it so much worse.
It has always been so easy for you to help others and I know that everyone here loves you and wants to help you now. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Sorry that you are having hard time. I know it is hard when you feel like you are back where you started. Your really not! You have so much knowledge to help you through this. Plus you have all of us here. Give your self a Big Hug... You have been through a lot. Pamper your self. Take a bubble bath, do your nails, give self a facial, You know girl stuff. 2004 SCC R.tip 1/4 tongue Oct. 2005 R. Neck SCC cancer/Chemo Cisplatin 2x/8wks. Rad. Removed Jugular vein, Lymph gland & some neck muscle. TX finished 1/20/06... B.Cancer 3/29/07 Finished 6/07 Bi-op 7/15/09 SCC in-situ, laser surgery removed from 1st. sight. Right jaw replacement 11/3/14. 9 yrs cancer free as of Jan. 2015

Like Jerry, I have been wondering and missing you. You and your girls and T-Dog (Bone haha) have been in my prayers every night. Sorry to hear you are down and having some difficulty. I know these are just words, but...I have admired your strength and perserverance in all the posts of yours I have read. So please dig deep and find your strength again, I know you have it in you and I know you are probably trying to find it. Take care of you, and know we are all here for you. We need you here Minnie.

Brenda in UK--Diagnosis 30/5/07--undifferentiated carcinoma in right jawbone and muscles. Stage 4 6/7/07--new diagnosis primary is in lung. Finished 4cycles of palliative carboplatin/gemcitabine therapy September 07 Now dying to live!

Just got back from doctor's appt, I have scc again, this time upper roof of mouth but near the back. Since I already had radiation, don't think that is an option....I will have my pet scan next week and meet with the surgeon;s on Wed. for decision. Hopefully, it is very early.....Party on....sorry to drop that downer on you guys...Love, Carol
Diagnosed May 2002 with Stage IV tongue cancer, two lymph nodes positive. Surgery to remove 1/2 tongue, neck dissection, 35 radiation treatments. 11/2007, diagnosed with cancer of soft palate, surgery 12/14/07, jaw split. 3/24/10, cancer on tongue behind flap, need petscan, surgery scheduled 4/16/10 ---update passed away 8-27-11---

My heart is as big as they come and even bigger , SO I have room for you as well and I am soo soo sorry to hear your news as well , You can do this as we all stand beside you atleast in spirit, I can't imagine hearing those words again , I am not even over the 1st time , but I know the possibilty of it is ssoo soo real..
