Talk about God working in mysterious ways. The hole where my tube came out of my stomach got infected and I called the doc and he tells me to come in today(Friday) and we would see what to do about it. I told him on the phone that I wanted it out since me and my wife feel I am eating good enough to survive without it. He told me as long as I felt that way he would take it out. I feel the infection was Gods way of getting me down to the doc to get it out. I am very nrevous about all of this because I have gotten very used to the tube and always knew if all else failed I could get my nourishment through the tube. I feel like this is a blessing though and if the time wasnt right to get it out then none of this would have happened.

Billy

Yo Billy--Go!
There are so many stories on here of people who've been peg-dependent for years and getting it out must be a HUGE change, but you're so strong, you'll cope with the eating, one way or another!
Another step smile smile
Well done,
Brenda

They are picking up my feeding pump and my suction machine next week. I have deep suction catheters and several bags for a dual kangaroo Joey pump. Any suggestions on what I should do with them? I want to donate them to someone or an organization that can use them.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks,
Billy

So Happy for you Billy,
I was peg dependent too. Now, I have gained so much weight, my pants won't fit. It is so much fun to eat now even though I can only eat on one side and my teeth do not meet, somehow, I tried one food at a time and it still takes me forever to eat. BUt I just take my time and relish every minute of it. It was so scary at first. Keep Carnation Instant Breakfast on hand, just as a backup. That made me feel better.
Take care!
Debbie

Partial mandibulectomy and neck dissection 2/3/07. T2NOMO.
Had 14 hour operation which included reconstruction of jaw.
Reconstruction failed. Some radiation, no chemo.

It is scary and I was scared to have the tube taken out but my wife told me it was time and I agree with her. It takes me a long time to eat also but I try not to get in a hurry. I have some Carnation here and I also have 11 cases of my Nutren which I drank this morning mixed with some milk. Yummy...LOL

Glad you got that thing taken out! That was a huge day for me. I've had mine out since June and still takes me much longer to eat than everyone else. Take care!
