im currently in physical therapy after 4 surgeries to open my mouth after severe trismus and i have adhesions in my muscles on left side they are swelling up after pt and starting to chew food is this normal?


Stage 4 buccal mucosa with lynphnode involvement radical forearm free flap surgery 7/09.radiation 35tx and cisplatin/erbutux chemo 4 tx peg tube for 8 months peg removed revision surgery four surgeries for trismus 4 picc lines for ORN of mandilbe now in HBO Tx still fighting the good fight!!!!

I don't kmow about the chewing any food because that is history to me. But yes and I still have the sweeling and pain. Severe rad burns and scar tissue.


Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
