Only way to know for sure is to get him in to a oral surgeon, ent, cancer doc. My first sign of cancer was a 4 cm lesion on the right side of my tongue. after treatment, i had another lesion that showed up on my tongue, but it turned out to be nothing, but it was very painful.
Get him into a doc asap!!
