Had the drains removed on Wednesday. I have put some antiseptic on the site and covered with a sterile strip.         
Monica,33 Mum of 3. Former smoker SCC right lateral tongue. Intially thought to be cell dysplasia and dx as SCC after surgical excision.  Nov 2010- partial glossectomy (1cm in width), partial neck dissection. Margins clear, nothing found in nodes- YAY! Benign tumor on saliva gland.

They stop draining in time, but it was awhile ago and I cannot remember how long it took.  I know the home nurse chained the drain site bandages regularly so it must have been 1-2 weeks?

Now a “Tubie for Life”.no food envy - Thank God!  Surviving isn't easy!!!!  .Proudly Canadian - YES, UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE IS WONDERFUL! (Not perfect but definitely WONDERFUL)
