| Joined: May 2010 Posts: 48 Contributing Member (25+ posts) | OP Contributing Member (25+ posts) Joined: May 2010 Posts: 48 | Hello, Just wanted to say I'm a U.S. Public Health Nurse (USPHS.GOV) and I talked with some of my colleagues in the dental field and they say salavart works better than biotene for Saliva temp. replacement; also I've found that citrus orbit gum works just as good or better than biotene gum and is cheaper!!! Worth a shot Happy Thanksgiving!!

HPV +16 Right Tonsil SCC with 1 Right lymph node. Tonsillectomy and neck resection.
Got 33 radiation doses via tomo machine (58 gry to back of throat, 65 gry to right neck, and 56 gry to left neck) with 2 cisplatin and one carboplatin due to possible hearing loss.

(The bottom line) But just as a counter point, we have had a lot of people here comment on their comparisons between the two, and the majority felt the the opposite of your dental colleagues, have heavily favored Biotene, and I think that everyone responds to things differently. So in either of these products I guess the rule is "your milage may vary." I would also like to add that it contains none of the protective enzymes that the Biotene products have, which besides comfort in your mouth, add another missing component of saliva, something that balances the flora in your mouth.
Thanks for passing on your opinions, for those that are still searching for a solution here's another, though I think with either product, that the effects are temporary.
