Since, he has been advised not to have any dental work for 1 year. Now the dentist are prescribing anti biotics and anti inflamatory. Does anybody have similar issues. In case of additional infection, do they give a go ahead to remove the teeth? , he is almost 5 month post radiation. What are the issues in removing teeth at this stage?..and what are the other alternatives?.
For Dad Age: 68 Tobaco user and Smoker. Stage: T2N1M0 , Detected 03/16/2010,Surgery : 04/21/2010 IMRT Radiation (6 weeks plan)+ Carboplatin (Weekly Dose) Started on 05/19/2010 Completed on 07/12/2010.

He will need 30 of them, 20 prior and 10 after the teeth are pulled. This will help prevent ostioradionecrosis which is very painful. Make sure your father sees a dentist who is familiar with oral cancer patients, a prostodontist.
