Yesterday my freind Mary Pat lost the battle.
Started out in 2003 cancer on tongue, during her surgery they had to remove a large amount of the flap, so she never was able to eat, keeping the food tube in since the surgery. Cancer came back in her lungs about 6 months ago, she had tumors removed and more chemo and radiation, her goal was to try to live till this Sat for her daughters wedding, but took a turn for the worse last week, they had the wedding in her bed room, so she was there for that. Mary was there for me in 2005 when I received the good word of cancer of the tongue, we lived 4 miles apart from one another, so have spent many hours talking to one another. We also had the same doctors and had gone to appointment together at times.
Her husband Dick was by her side from day one, till the end. I will miss my freind, but I will always remember her positive outlook, and the way she dealt with death. She was truly a remarkable person.

Tongue Cancer, stage 4, spread to neck/ Radical neck, 3 chemos, 33 radiation. 5-18-2005

Dogman,

It hurts all of us when we lose another to this dreaded disease. I know you sure were fortunate to have someone traveling the road ahead as your journey began and to share some of the ups and downs with when they knew exactly what you were dealing.

I hope you know how fortunate Mary Pat was as well to have you by her side and I know she felt your love and compassion.

May the best of memories fill your heart and soul and may your pain be less each and every day.

Ed
