Minnie,
My wife and I were very moved by your website and made a dontation thru her Pay-pal account. My wife had another suggestion: email Michael Moore at Michaelmoore.com. He collected people's tales of mistreatment by insurance companies for the documentary "Sicko" and he has the power to bring great publicity to these issues if you can get him to respond. I suggest at least going to his website and trying to contact him or his people.

Best of luck,
Danny G.

It's true, "Sicko" was about exactly the kind of runaround you have gotten from your insurance company, Minnie. It's sad how many stories like that he is able to collect.

Minnie--October 4th is one of my milestones too--'Review' after chemo and CT scan--may get another 'prognosis' which I've avoided until now---but I am going to ask him if he thinks it's worth my buying new Christmas Lights and Decorations--also one of my main 'longish' term plans.
Also be good to have a 'recheck' on whether I should go to CA to visit my daughter (though it looks like it will have to be without insurance!)
Your whole family is wonderful and I wish you all the best of luck with all your efforts, I'm so glad the 'insurance' thing isn't an issue for us in the UK (as long as we stay at home that is!)
Take care Minnie, it will soon be Thursday, then 'life starts again' for you,

Minnie,
I will be thinking of you and your family. The waiting and anticipating is sometimes the very hardest part of all. Just keep busy with you family as much as you can.
Please be in touch soon.

Minnie,

I'll definitely be thinking of you on Thursday and wishing you all the best. I hope the tube feeding is going well and you are getting some good nutrition before surgery. Did you say you would be in the hospital 12 or so days? I'll miss reading your posts daily and will anticipate hearing from you when you feel like getting back online. You'll have my prayers everyday Minnie.

Love,

Pam

Minnie,
My wife, Nancy, who was a T.V. news director for 25 years has another suggestion, that can be accomplished much more easily than getting in touch with Michael Moore. Contact the investigative reporters from your local T.V. stations and let them know that you have a story to tell about a cancer patient fighting for her life getting screwed by her insurance company. They are always looking for interesting stories.

Imagine having your beautiful family interviewed on the news outlining your poignant story and what they are doing to raise money for your treatment. I guarantee you that the stations will want to run your story, and it just might shame the insurance companies into doing the right thing.

Give em' hell!

Danny G.

Hi Danny, the insurance company has agreed to pay an "out of network" amount but we had to change our policy and our premium is now higher. We'll still have steep medical bills but not as bad as we first thought. Regardless, we're heading to Hopkins tomorrow as we simply decided that money wouldn't stand in the way of me having the best outcome possible. As you can see, my girls can be very determined about things!

I'll have one of the girls keep you all posted from my laptop in the motel room.

Love to all, please keep your prayers coming, especially for Thursday's surgery.

Hi Minnie,

Sounds like a good compromise with the insurance company. I'm surprised that they let you change the policy and give you at least some coverage. That is really great news as most companies wouldn't do that. Most would make you wait until the renewal period.

The prayers have been in high gear since you first let us know about your recurrence. We'll be doubling up on them tomorrow.
