Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | Allegheny Genaeral called me at 4 PM and have gotten me a better date for surgery. It is now scheduled for Nov 2nd. That sure will help my mind by 2 weeks. LOL Have a great day all.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 238 | Hi there! I'm very happy to hear that they moved your surgery up two weeks. As I've said before waiting is one of the hardest parts. My mom had a CT scan yesterday to see if, after a year, the cancer has come back in her neck. She's been having some unexplained bleeding. She had to wait a week for the scan and now she has to wait another week for the answer. I know doctors are very busy but wish they thought about how much stress that puts on people. Keeping you in my prayers for a successful surgery. Take care of yourself in the meantime.

Marginal mandibulectomy 6/17/08 resulted in DX of Stage I SCC - gingiva (3 mm) right mandible, buccal side. Clear margins. Occasional social drinker. Smoked last cigarette in 1979. Clear pet: 12/08; 7/20/09. Yay!
