I am 3 months post treatment. Of the pain meds, no more pain in mouth. I do have the dry mouth worse at night. can't seem to get rid of the white build up on tongue but the insist it isn't thrush, but I do drink a lot of vanilla ensure so maybe that is what it is. Taste is probably at 50%, I can taste all yogurts, i can eat biscuits and gravy, pot pies, veggies, chicken and steak but slow. Scallops go down good. I do have stiffness in neck and get intermittent fluid build up in neck from lymph drainage. Depression is probably the hardest, as you know I'm single and that seems to bother me more than the cancer! I want to live again, I want to love and be loved and I'm not sure if and when that will happen ever again! What's the purpose of beating cancer if you have to be alone! Charles

I could call and get results today but I am waiting for my Dr.s appointment on Monday. I'm going to the Bills/Jest game on Sunday and I just want to enjoy the weekend and try to forget about stupid cancer for a day if that's possible!!

Glad to hear you are doing so well. You are very fortunate to be eating so many different things. Recovery is a long process. There are many of us here who are single. All good things come to those who wait Best wishes on your continued improvements. If you are up to it and feel like taking a drive. Not sure exactly how far away you are. In Bethlehem PA tomorrow there is an oral cancer awareness walk. There will be several OCF members there. Would love to see you there. so good that you can eat so many things!! I look forward to that day (i'm four weeks out of treatment). Congratulations!!!
I think we all experience the same thing whether we are single or with partner (although there is more support with a partner). I'm married and sometimes worry whether my relationship will ever go back to the way it was before. All the mucus, tiredness, depression etc is not exactly the best for a romantic relationship. I'm struggling to come out of the mess so maybe my husband can maybe see a hint of the woman he married.
I'm sure time will slowly make it easier for us. As one wise OCF member said to me "Cancer does not mean the end of life, love and laughter". I have no doubt that you will find love again Charles, its just a matter of time. Like Christine says "Good things come to those who wait".
Keep us posted with your updates.
Best wishes Minh

I well know what you're going through, the single stuff. I did the whole surgery-radiation-aftermath on my own and I know it's not easy. Just keep having positive thoughts!
Btw I'm from Miami originally. Alas, Ihink the Jets will kick your #$^ tomorrow... sorry about that. But then, the Pats will kick ours Monday night!
