Hi all, It is the last week of radio and chemo and my boyfriend has just been admitted for at least the remainder of his treatment, we had a terrible weekend where he suddenly seemed to go downhill, being sick and in such pain with the burning in his mouth. He looks so thin and ill and as much as I want him home I know deep down this is for the best. The doctor today has cancelled his chemo (it was his last one) as he is too sick and they do not want to risk him being sick again, does anyone know what affect this could have? going home alone again after his 3 weeks stay for surgery and then getting him back is so awful.

Many people here have said that the last week and following week or two of treatment was the worst. I know that was true for my husband. Everyone would talk about this "light at the end of the tunnel" where he would get better. I'd look at him so thin and tired and it was hard to imagine. But as I type he is getting ready for a full day of work and humming under his breath!!!
Hang in there.

Thank you, I am looking forward to the day he goes back to work and a form of normality although it seems so far away, it seems that with every positive there is a set back and you end up feeling useless

At least in the hospital they will be able to make sure he gets the required calories, hydration and meds. If he's like the majority of us he will get worse before he gets better in about 3 weeks or so.

I finished radiation on May 5th.I did not have Chemo but I did have a very bad reaction to pain meds that put me in ICU for 11 days. I returned to work Very part time in June, full time in July and I swear I feel better now than I have in years. It might have something to do with losing 25 pounds or a new attitude or a combination. But I feel very good these days.
