It has finished animal trials and is soon to be used in vetinary practises. Human clinical trials are due to begin in 2012 however i'm wondering if there is any way to access this drug through the Category A form special access scheme (aust. government therpeutic goods administration) act? Has anyone tried to do similar (and found an oncologist willing to administer) as my cancer has unfortunately progressed to weeks/months left to live. Please view their website for further information www.qbiotics.com Thank you Tony

I can understand why certain protocol must be followed before actually testing on humans, but where different countries are involved maybe the protocals or testing time could be different and allow for sooner availability to humans? - Especially when and if a cancer patient is willing to take the risk. Since it is soon to be used by veterinarians, maybe they would be more aware of how or when it might be available for humans? Tony - I hope and pray that something positive happens for you very soon.

Your situation does sound like our nightmares come true. It can be so frustrating to think that perhaps something could help you. However, If you can not get hold of this unproven drug, remember that the web site says it has to be "topically applied" or "injected directly into the tumor" in order to work. I also had a tumor at the base of my tongue, twice now, and both times it was totally inaccessible to any injection or topical application by anything except radiation or having my neck split and jaw broken open and major surgery. I've also very sorry to hear about the prognosis. Life is so unfair. It's in the back of the minds of all of us for whom the cancer keeps coming back and I hope you do find a miracle cure. 65 yr Old Frack Stage IV BOT T3N2M0 HPV 16+ 2007:72GY IMRT(40) 8 ERBITUX No PEG 2008:CANCER BACK Salvage Surgery 25GY-CyberKnife(5) 3 Carboplatin Apaghia /G button 2012: CANCER BACK -left tonsilar fossa 40GY-CyberKnife(5) 3 Carboplatin Passed away 4-29-13

Hundreds over the last decade. Even if this was THE one, it could take years to get through the clinical trials. The truth is that we are not mice. Of course the pharma companies are all over talking about this, and pumping it up in releases, they have to raise millions, hundreds of millions of dollars to do the trials and then IF something is successful get it through the authorities in each country.
In the US, the FDA would have to issue an experimental approval to do something with an unapproved drug, treatment, or device, and I haven't seen them do it in the last 12 years.
Needless to say, I think everyone on these boards are pulling for a breakthrough for you to get past these difficult times.
