My thrush was white or cream colored and very painful until the horse pills kicked in.

Hi Angelia,

Thinking about you and hoping you get the attention you want from your doctor. Stay vigilant!

Keep your head up, and try to keep yourself busy. I also had bad news with a hot PET scan, but a negative biopsy. I also read a recent post from Bloop19. She has a lump which turned out to be scar tissue. Although these stories are not yours, maybe yours will also have a positive outcome. Like you, I am a teacher, so I know your initial thoughts may be about how to juggle possible new treatments and the students. Don't worry, it will all work out. Like another person told me, "It ain't cancer til they say it's cancer!" Hang tough! You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Saw my periodontist today and he said that the lump definitely looked like oral cancer, but he also said it could be irritation from my tongue rubbing on a tooth. I hope it is the latter one.

Oh I certainly hope it is the latter too. Are you going to get a biopsy?

Good luck, Angelia.
Praying it's irritation.

Peridontists are not cancer doctors nor, in my opinion, should they be saying things like that! I have never had a doctor actually say it was cancer until they KNEW it was. They always withhold a diagnosis until they have evidence, so I wouldn't put any stock in what he said.

Until you actually get some results, try to stay as calm as possible. I have had numerous lumps and bumps on my tongue and neck and have found that worrying doesn't improve them, and magically some of them just repair themselves. Turned out I had bitten my tongue or some such.

Get the biopsy - try to stay calm. And, crap that these worries are back with you.

He did not say it was cancer, but he said it definitely looked like it. We have a great relationship that is open and honest. He was telling me what he thought and I do not fault him for that. I did ask for his opinion on what it was. He did give me another alternative to what it could be. I am seeing both my dentist and RO today to get a definite. Whatever will be, will be. I can not change anything. I just figure that the left side of my tongue wants to match the right side. smile
