I posted two days ago under sx's/diagnosis after not posting since June but have realized maybe I should have started out here. I have figured out that not many of you have mucoepidermoid CA. I finally had excisional biopsy of floor of mouth lesion 9/1 along with total thyroidectomy for unrelated cancer.

Just wondering if anyone has had mucoepidermoid CA of floor of mouth (specifically sublingual gland according to ENT). He is sending me to Shands Jacksonville Tumor Board/Dr. Rui Fernandes. I will see him this coming Tuesday. I understand I will need more surgery as margins were not clear on what ENT removed, and will probably need a PET scan before that surgery can be done. However, I was also told PET scan can't be done for a while until I heal from this surgery and am just wondering how long I will have to wait. Also wondering what to expect/ask at this initial visit with Dr. Fernandes. Anyone know him?

The tip of my tongue is numb just from the bx-- is this common? Does it go away?

Thanks for any input.
