Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1,412 | Well, it was not a lymph node afterall. It is a muscle that has fibrosis and is hard as a rock. The ENT said that it is often confused with a lymph node. He would rather me come in with this type of question than to wait and see if it changes. Here is a funny I tols home where I thought the lymph node was he said, "Good because the lymph nodes from mouth cancer are not normally at the back, but I need to retract my statement because you are not normal."

That is terrific news!! As I said in my post on your related thread, the fibrosis is the gift that keeps on giving . . . Glad it proved to be nothing!

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Marginal mandibulectomy 6/17/08 resulted in DX of Stage I SCC - gingiva (3 mm) right mandible, buccal side. Clear margins. Occasional social drinker. Smoked last cigarette in 1979. Clear pet: 12/08; 7/20/09. Yay!
