Suddenly, I see some pink blood again in my brand new G-tube which is only 4 days old. Not much on the internet blogs, although some posts say it's okay for a brand new tube due to irritation? Of course the hospital is closed for Memorial Day and ERs don't really cut it for anything than sticking in a temp tube. While I will check with Interventional Radiology on Tuesday, anybody out there have similar experience with their PEG, G tube or J tube? G tube looks perfectly normal today, just usual mocha gastric juice. When and if I get answers from Interventional Radiology, I'll share. My GI Dr has told me it is due to my esophagitis and acid reflux brought on my rads. I have to take acid reflux meds now for the rest of my life. The espohagitis is what put me in the hospital because it was so bad, and was graded the wrost you could grade an esophagus. Anyway, I would just keep watching it. Do you even feel sick to your stomach? Light headed or weaker than your usual self? I would definitely keep an out and call your Dr. Tuesday about it. I know my GI Dr. keeps tabs on me by checking blood work periodically.

It could be related to what happened to pop that balloon. Dont delay on calling tomorrow and get checked out.
Ive eaten red jello and seen it back up and look pink. Or from taking meds Ive seen the J side pinkish. Nothing a good flush didnt take care of for me.
Hope it turns out to be nothing.

I have been clumsy in my description of my feeding tube. It is a G tube, not a J tube. The only hole is into my stomach. There was no other recurrence of the pink blood, and it all cleared up with one flush and has stayed clear ever since.
J tubes are much more problematic when they go wrong. The fact that you have both just increases my respect for your patience and persistence. Finally, I will be off the board until June 11 as I promised my wife a real vacation with no laptop, no internet mobile access, no smartphone etc. I was always bad at that while working, and took my Blackberry with me even on our cruises. Couldn't resist logging in one more time before shutting off the computer and waiting for the cab. Thanks so much for the bon voyages This vacation is more complicated due to the feeding tube but just as symbolic. Italy was my proclamation (premature as it turns out) that I had beaten the cancer - this time, New Mexico is my acceptance of my karma and post surgery/recurrence limitations (aka challenges) I'll post a trip report in the Friends forum after getting back Charm 65 yr Old Frack Stage IV BOT T3N2M0 HPV 16+ 2007:72GY IMRT(40) 8 ERBITUX No PEG 2008:CANCER BACK Salvage Surgery 25GY-CyberKnife(5) 3 Carboplatin Apaghia /G button 2012: CANCER BACK -left tonsilar fossa 40GY-CyberKnife(5) 3 Carboplatin Passed away 4-29-13
