I'm putting this here and not in the activism area, because I want to bring your attention to it. Truth be told, out of the vast majority of people that come to OCF, only a few become engaged in more than their own issues, or want to change the world. That's not bad, it is just reality.

Second, OCF sends a lot of time and effort to see that people that come to our web site have easy access to the news that is the most important about our disease today, and it's all free and you can subscribe to it on the OCF RSS feed or just visit the new page each day. But their are two news pages; one that is only news about us (OCF) and our people, and one that is about the oral cancer world of science etc.

So for those of you that never venture far away from these message boards here are a couple of stories that are worth looking at... because these are about people that come from these boards in many respects, and they are only a few of the many stories about "us" that we have.

So here are some links for you to explore about us, also some that are just disease specific. Remember chance favors the prepared mind. The disease related link, many have some info in it that changes how you view your disease, treatments that you choose, view the future of treatment possibilities.

Hi -

Google is my home page. I have a bunch of stuff on it, including "Oral Cancer News." I added it a while back, but I can't remember how (subscribed to the OCF RSS feed?).

Anyway, The "Oral Cancer News" box contains headlines to three news stories from the Oral Cancer news page. They appear as links that are updated as often as new stories appear. I don't have to visit another site or search for stories; they're just a click away from a site I visit daily.

I don't read every item, but it's a valuable resource that's easy to access. I'm glad I put it there.

Marlene

Marginal mandibulectomy 6/17/08 resulted in DX of Stage I SCC - gingiva (3 mm) right mandible, buccal side. Clear margins. Occasional social drinker. Smoked last cigarette in 1979. Clear pet: 12/08; 7/20/09. Yay!

After one too many time of posting links to tremendous stories then being reminded by Brian that they were already on OCF news, I second Marlene's fix. For my Google or My Yahoo homepagers, It's very easy: At either of the links that Brian has posted, on the right top side is RSS Feed for this section ". Just click on it and then at the top it asks if you want to subscribe. the default option is "live bookmarks" but if you click on the arrow, a drop down menu appears and you can pick Google or even My Yahoo.
Otherwise Copy the OCF newssfeed URL at the RSS page, then go to Google Reader. In Google Reader you will see a link on the left side navigation bar that says Add Subscription. Clicking Add Subscription will bring up a little box where you will paste the feed URL. Click add. Google will again show the little confirmation box and the feed items below
Like Marlene I added google reader to my home page so as soon as I log onto the internet, there is OCF news right in a neat little box with all the tremendous stories and studies.
