hello friends, got a question for you. I am 7 months post tx and generally doing well. Just a few "little" mproblems. So I posted a couple of months ago that my jaw does not open very wide. So I take little bites of food. Actually I eat like a rat, knawing at most things...Rat Man. My voice is always pretty hoarse, sometimes very hoarse. I sound frogy all the time...a ha, Frog Man! so I am either a frogy rat or a ratty frog.

How are many of you other survivors doing. I had 40 days Rad and Chemo, no surgery. Will I be froggy forever? Is your voice like a meadow lark. I also can not shout.

Kidding aside, it does effect my work sometimes and it can get so bad I can not speak to a customer

Thanks!!
Steve

One idea for the frog is to keep your mouth moist. Plenty of
water or sugar free gum is great if your teetn are OK. Be carefull about the weight I lost thirty pounds keep it off
for a year now that my tate buds are back I have found 40
pounds my taste buds are in overdrive.

I have a froggy voice and I am a teacher. most of my students do not have a problem with it, but some hav thought I was yelling. Sometimes I do get too loud and can not hear myself getting loud. Interested in responses. Sometimes I do not even have much of a voice. smile My students like that. smile

Almost one year post treatment and my clients have stopped commenting that my voice is raspy. So it must be getting back to normal. I still can not yell (at sporting events etc) or my throat gets sore. I was also concerned when my voice would "give out" after talking for a few minutes even with alot of hydration, but it is holding up well now.

Steve, I was pretty raspy there for a long while, including a couple of months when all I could do was whisper. Now 10 months post RT my voice still sounds a bit strange to me, although people tell me I sound relatively normal. My guess is you voice will also come back. Just hang in there!
