They did a scope of his throat and things looked good. They said he still have alot of swelling but everything else looked okay. He still isnt able to return to work (which he was hoping to be able to)because he works in factory maintance. They said they didnt want him in the plant because of all the fumes and dirt ect.. this was the first I have heard of this stuff bothering the healing process. But they said it would be hard on his vocal cords and areas. So unless he can get a light duty job that puts him in the office areas for a time he will be off work until at least end of sept. His short term disablity pay stops close to the end of Aug. If he gets to go on long term the only real drawback is that we have to pick up the cost of the insurance which will be high. So we are hoping that they may find something for him to do in the office. One I think it will make him feel better to get back to work as long as it isnt to draining on him. He goes in next tuesday for his pet scan. I am praying it comes back with good news for us.
Barb CG for Marvin.

That's encouraging news that your husband was hoping to go back to work.
Are there any options about being in the factory...such as a mask? We haven't even begun to think about Dan's return to work, but he travels to different plants and I didn't know that the environment would be an issue. How long did the docs say it would be before he can return to his regular job?
I've got you both in my prayers and hoping for a great result on the pet scan next week! Margaret ---------- C/G: Husband, 48 (at time of dx) Dx 5/18/07 SCC, BOT, lymph node involvement. T1N2BM0. We've never thought about a mask, I think if you google masks, you'll probably find some maintenance masks. I'll also ask my aunt next week if she knows of any, her husband works with all kinds of chemicals and machines. The more I think about it, they must sell something like that, we've had a lot of flooding in our area, Yardley, PA, and the people who go in to clean or examine the homes must have some type of mask to protect themselves. Good luck with the PETSCAN, you'll be in my prayers.
