Hi,
I have a biopsy on my tongue to diagnose what the lesion is on my tongue and thought you would like to see my MRI scan report to see what you think and if anybody had any idea what it "could" be?

Here goes:

There is a midline solid enhancing lesion within the tongue which measures 2.8 x 2.2 x 3.0cm. The aetiology of this lesion is uncertain but it definitely requires clinical evaluation. A possible cause of midline lesions is a lingual thyroid, but this lesion is actually within the substance of the tongue rather than situated directly posterior to it. An abnormality arising in accessory salivary tissue is a possibility.

Incidental inflammatory polyps are seen in the maxillary antra.

Thanks for reading and hope someody can help

Dave.

I don't know how to read "pathology speak" (are those people ever certain of ANYTHING???) but by the sounds of it you are doing exactly the right thing by pursuing this until you get an answer.

I too hope you don't need to be here, but if you do - we are definitely here for you. There is nothing that compares to having people who have 'been there done that' offer information and for some of us even more important is the emotional support and friendship offered by these awesome people.

Keep us posted - we'll be waiting with ya!

Hugs

MRI readings by radiologists must contain every suspicious area and anomaly. My first MRI's, post Tx, were not "clean" and caused me much angst until they were interpreted by the head & neck surgeon. It was an entire year until I had a normal MRI.

The biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosis. Scans and x-rays are only a part of the diagnostic workup.

If you're freaking out, a perfectly normal reaction, ask for some anti-anxiety meds. I took them all though treatment.
