| Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 396 Platinum Member (300+ posts) | OP Platinum Member (300+ posts) Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 396 | the RO said that his treatment would start again on MARCH 8. she said it would ONLY be 5 IMRT X 2 carboplatin. i do not think that 5 more is going to effect him too much. i know he will be fatigued, maybe nauseous. i hope i am right in assuming this since this is what i am telling him to keep him from freaking. he has made a remarkable recovery. eats 100% orally, all kinds of foods--even steak even though taste buds arent great. weened off of pain meds completely. talks easily (and being a new yorker--really fast and loud lol)  . helps around the house, little stuff but 100% more than before). i am extremely happy with his progress. as much trouble as he had with treatment...i thought he would be in for a loooong recovery. he is still very weak but getting stronger each day.

I am still having issued with swallowing. Hurts like the dickens and still choke sometimes. I do not think that 5 treatments wills effect as much now either since he has recovered so quickly.

I can gum the fat tail part until the flavor is gone and then spit it out. He's one of my heros
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

| | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 396 Platinum Member (300+ posts) | OP Platinum Member (300+ posts) Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 396 | oh susan, he will yell at that posts cause he is METS all the way lol! yes, he is eating...anything and everything--a little slower than before but thats ok. i am pleasently shocked and suprised each day. no mucous cups. no pain other than slightly bothersome. his tastebuds are not there yet, eats most things on memory. dry mouth is still a problem. still alot of weakness. i couldnt have begged for a quicker and better outcome. hes my hero too!!!
