Wow - I can see EricS is taking his Young Frack title seriously. Despite the fact that I think I hold the OCF record for having entire threads shut down due to the nature of the replies I generated, none of my posts have ever been deleted. (Of course I have had a full lifetime to develop the art of going up to the line but not crossing it, while the posters who replied did cross it) Actually that's how EricS & I became such good comrades - the thrill of combat with another alpha male.

Even old dogs can learn new tricks, so I am going to refrain from posting my original response to Brian's insensitive treatment of bunnies. Instead I will take the high road and note that Nova, our beloved bunny of twelve years was one reason my caregiver wife could get through this ordeal. Each night,unbeknownst to me as I lay moaning on the couch upstairs, my wife would go down to the family room ostensibly to pet Nova, and weep copiously while Nova licked up each and every tear from her face. Sure, cynics will say it was the salt, but Nova had a saltlick in his cage. My wife and I know better. We made a point of boycotting several resturants we had planned on eating at in Rome when we saw rabbit on the menu.
Okay, just another reminder to VOTE today for OCF. I saw the rabbit project but OCF still needs our support so I cast one vote and one vote only out of the ten alloted each day, and that vote will always be for OCF

Charm, please note that I was equally insensitive to my ex drinking buddies...... I tend to be an equal opportunity offender, and as I stated I am an animal lover to the exteme, and it was all said in jest.

When I wore a younger mans body, I grew up that part of my life in Missouri where the coming of age thing was to kill your first deer... Little did I realize at the time that occurred, that that was not really hunting. (Though many avid hunters today would disagree with me) After all a harmless animal taken from a distance, that doesn't even sense that you are around, isn't much of a challenge. Shortly after that I had a chance to have my frame of reference completely changed. Uncle Sam gave me the opportunity to hunt something that was as smart (if not smarter than me) and equally well armed. After that experience, which I will not detail, I lost my desire to kill anything ever again.

So I knew this would elicit the several bunny people here to ask for my head, but the temptation to be obnoxious just overcame me in a weak moment. Please note that in realizing the error and political incorrectness of my ways, I deleted the subsequent post about horses. And to Charm and David who is also a bunny person, you have my apologies......

I deleted my own post as I was one of the few people online last night and probably the only one to read Brian's comment. I found his remark quite funny actually and posted a comment that I thought funny. Right after I posted it I saw Brian had deleted his comment for the sake of "good taste". Since his comments were no longer there, mine wouldn't have made sense to anyone reading.

My parents raised rabbits when I was a kid, and like all animals on the "farm" were used for sustanence. I was not a fan and having been witness to the process refused to take part. I believe in "hunting" for food purposes, as a species we've done it for thousands of years and believe that it's a skill that should be taught in the event society breaks down. Those views aside...it was all in jest and I'd be fine with sharing my comments. Everyone has their own views which I respect, but I don't think any of the comments, even those deleted were said maliciously, but all in good fun.

No offense taken nor apology needed. Actually, I have to plead guilty to eating horsemeat when in Paris. Brian sent me an article about how this violates the American Cowboy ethic which was very good.
My wife,even though a vegetarian, cooked up the horse steak for me that I bought from a specialty butcher shop in Paris that only sells select cuts of horse steak. It was delicious.
I cannot in conscience let Brian take the heat over a bunny joke without fessing up to my culinary secret. As Brian noted in a PM, if we had French members, nothing would have had to be deleted

I've been spreading the word on my forum and other forums that I'm on too. I've asked that they spread the word for us too.

All right OCFers, Brian, Eric & I have done our best to add some humor into this thread so as to keep the interest going. Now it's time for more people to follow boatswife's example and start voting and get their friends and family to vote
