This evening Stephanie lost her battle with the recurrence that was officially diagnosed exactly 8 months ago. She went home to be with her make and savior at around 6:20 this evening. She fought extremely hard, but unfortunately on Monday morning she was no longer able to effectively breathe. The tumor in her left lung that she was receiving radiation treatment on was at near total replacement of the lung. Her right lung was filled with fluid. She went home peacefully slowly breathing her last. I hope you all have been to the blog she started as we began this journey. If not, here is the address: www.doigetatshirtforthis.blogspot.comIf you would like any more information please feel free to email me -Warner Bradley
Stephanie, 23, SCC on the right side of my tongue, surgery on 5-19-08, over half my tongue removed, free flap constructed from my forearm, bilateral neck dissection, one positive node. Radiation (32) and chemo (carboplatin) started on 6-16-08. Recurrence 4/09 in lungs.

My thoughts are with you and the rest of Stephanie's family. She was so young, so brave, and fought so hard. I have followed her blog which expressed love, optimism and hope. My heart is filled with sorrow. She will be missed by many.

My deepest sympathy. Your wife was such a good caring person. When my cancer came back and I was still in the hospital, she was the first one who replied to a thread I opened about swallowing. I remember vividly just how glad I was to read her post. She brought comfort to so many here on the OCF board and she will be sorely missed. This is not fair, and I have no answer as to why bad things happen to good people like Stephanie. Thank you for taking the time to update us in the midst of your grief. My daughter is the same age and I have been quietly following your Blog daily. You are so lucky to have been blessed by Stephanie's love. You have been an incredible husband and caregiver and she was so lucky to have you by her side fighting this battle. Take comfort that she is in heaven and out of pain. Continued prayers for you and your family during this extremely difficult time. Love, Wanda

She was an incredible person, and her posts - even when she was ill - made me smile. As Charm said, it's not fair, and I am so sorry that you and the world have lost a wonderful, caring, funny and optimistic woman. I wish you peace and strength. You are in my prayers. Marlene
