Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 15 | Hello. My PEG tube came out last night and I am on vacation away from home, I'm not sure who to call. Also it is Sunday which causes problems. I know that it must be re-inserted within a certain time before the incision heals. Supposedly it is easy to replace but I don't know how. I assume all doctors office will be closed today as I tried to call mine in Nashville, TN. I am in a small town south of Memphis, TN right now. Any suggestions as I was not prepared for this occurance?

I'm no help personally, but read not long ago about a fellow fighter whose son accidentally pulled his line out - he had to go to the hospital to get it reinserted. They say the stomach starts to heal quickly.

Clear at the 6 year mark!
Back to swimming, biking and running! just a tad slower
never regained my weight, even when I eat lots and lots, just a skinny guy now
Just way glad to be seeing the green side up!

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 15 | Yes I did go to the ER. Since I am away from home and on vacation I had to look up the closest hospital. They took me in and did a replacement. The ballon on my old tube had broken, even though the tube was less than 4 months old. The tube came out some time during the night and I didn't get to the ER until after 11:00 am. The hole had already started closing and it was quite painful doing the re-insertion. But it is done now. I am not able to eat or drink orally yet so I was pretty hungry when it was all done by 2:00 pm.
