T4N2MO SCC tongue, floor of mouth, lymph nodes & jaw bone No surgery radiation 13/07/2009 x 7wks chemo 15/07/2009 x 3 Cisplatin last TX 28/08/2009 25/11/2009 PET-lymph node activity. 08/01/2010 CT Scan-ALL CLEAR 03/03/2010-Peg removed 01/2013 left side of Jaw removed and replaced with pectoral flap. 23/12/2020 scan show lesion in tongue 01/2021 SCC stage 3 base of tongue diagnosed 01/03/2021 chemotherapy started. 17/03/22 lost the battle. Missed dearly

Steve...was your friend saying it shouldn't be hard to stop opiates? I'm not sure if I understood you correctly. Thank you also for your encouragement. I appreciate it very much.
Today has been another good day....I took half a pill this morning and the other half a little while ago. I think I should make it through the night again. I'm also weening off Lexapro and I'm feeling some depression. Has anyone tried St. John's Wort? I've never tried it and wondered if it works?

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Back to swimming, biking and running! just a tad slower never regained my weight, even when I eat lots and lots, just a skinny guy now

One should NEVER cut a patch as it could kill you. Gary posted on this a long time ago. I don't remember the reason why but one should not do it. The correct way to do this is to step down to lower dosages. Please do not cut patches.

Caregivers are the heros for putting up with us. We are like the pup on the end of the leash, just give us a little breathing room and we will be fine.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here
