2nd day of treatment today, can't complain. Not going to complain as things could be worse. time is going to fly by like a kite from here on out.

Question: I am feeling some sharp pains come and go in the radiation site. Is this common?

Maya,
I did not experience and pain during the treatment other that when they stuck the stinking mask on my head and latched me down to the table.

You are on your way for a tough treatment. Keep us informed, ask questions, Lots of support here

do you have a Peg or Port?

Steve

Maya,
I just had my third day of treatment. I do have a place on the right side that is sore to the touch. We will walk through this together.

Hi Steve,

No peg No port. If i stay ready i won't have to get ready. I really don't like being latched to the table like that either.
32 more treatments to go.

Hi Maya, Each day brings you closer to a full recovery! In the begining of my ordeal, nothing ment anything to me. I was told to come in to get fitted for "The Mask". I had no idea the terror I was in for! My heart was already beating too fast when I first saw the room for the radiation. Then when the warm mold was placed on my face & all those hands were pressing down at once...my heart was pounding out of my chest! How I wished I was hooked up to an ekg @ that time, the readings would have been off the charts! Anyway...everyday a 1/2 hour before my tx I took a half pill of Adavan. Loved that pill! Ask for it, it helps w/the anxiety (of the whole mask, bolted to the table & rad.) I also had a calender & loved crossing off the completed week of TX. Your soo young to have to go through this, I will pray for you honey. Eat everything your heart desires now, keep a journal (if you can) Most of all..keep your positive outlook! Every am before my TX, my hair was done & full makeup! My mask still has lipstick on it! I always walked in smiling! Best Wishes, Dianne MH

Maya, Me again, don't worry about chemo w/rad. on Fri, I had the same. On the Sun however I felt "punk" I wasn't nauseous, just felt rotton. It was the only day the chemo got me down. 18 days later I had some hair loss on only the back of my head above my neck. It all grew back, so don't freak out if this happens to you! Any questions? You can ask my anything! Dianne

Maya, I had my chemo/rads on Monday. I took the anti-nausea medicine they gave me round the clock until Yesterday morning and did not have too much nausea. I took it at the first hint of it. You will do fine. It seems to be getting easier as it goes. I know the side-effect ofs th radiation will soon be here, but i am enjoying every moment of everyday while I still feel well. I do get really tired easily and have to stop and take a nap sometimes.
