A lymph node on the opposite side of my neck became swollen and tender. My ENT put me on an antibiotic and after two days, the node seemed to reduce and the soreness subsided. Third day (today) my jaw is very sore and it hurts when I open my mouth...I know...don't open your mouth!! Anyway, now I'm not so sure we are looking at an infection. Anyone experience a similar problem? I see my ENT again on Tuesday. In the meantime, I'll just hope things improve....

When I first discovered my swollen lumps in my neck I was given a 3 week course of antibiotics and they shrank about 50% and the CANCER doctor shook my hand and said " Congratulations, you DON'T HAVE CANCER!!!" He did prescribe another 3 weeks of antibiotics and told me they had to shrink all the way down. Fortunately for me my nagging persistent wife tricked me into seeing an ENT the very next day and he did a FNA and it was confirmed SCC.

I am blessed with a great ENT. He will see me again on Tuesday to see what happened with the antibiotics. He is already talking about a biopsy, should things not look as well as expected.
