My boyfriend has been not feeling well lately (about a week now) complaining of his throat being sore(off and on), but progressing. The last few days though he has been very concerned about some red and white bumps on his tongue, near the base.. he says it hurts to swallow, and feels like he 'bit his tongue'. We are in our late 30's.

He uses tobacco, (chews), once a night. The internet stuff I'm seeing is scary.. he called me tonight and is convinced it's bad news. Entering into this pseudo~holiday weekend.. I'm at a loss as to what to do to help him.. I've called the people I know who can help possibly see him before Mon., but I'm kinda worried too..

any suggestions?..

He needs to make an appointment with an ENT and not worry until then.

Oh and one more extremely important thing.....STOP USING TOBACCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all fear the "C" word, which is probably what brought you here to begin with....my wife had problems with her tongue/throat and it turned out to be nothing. It didn't quite work that way for me...

The only way to know for sure, and get peace of mind is to see your ENT specialist.

If I could go back in time, the one thing I would change for sure is: NOT USE TOBACCO!!!!!!

KILL THIS CANCER...Barry

57 YO, Dx 10/08 with oral cancer, Surgery 11/08 followed by six weeks of RT treatment with the MASK.
Follow up on 10/15/09 found a soft spot, which turned out to be SCC. Don't know if I can receive more radiation or not since I've already received full dose.
