Jeff, having your esophagus dialated makes a huge difference. I get that done quite often and when food goes down it can get scary when it becomes lodged and won't move up or down. I'm glad this worked for you as it does me. Jim


Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Jeff, thanks for that and sorry to hear about your ordeal. I've of course heard of esophogeal dilation and in fact that was what I thought I was in for my last time under. Until the discovery of the web. But like you and Jim I've had lots of experience with items getting stuck in the throat and cutting off one's air.... man, talk about scary! Glad you're doing better.
