The ACC had spread to saliva gland that was removed but had a clear margin of 1mm. I feel upbeat & relaxed at the mo, but am struggling to get used to my smile or lack of! I feel like a need a smile prop to help things along. Radiotherapy should start in November, Im sure my nerves will kick in before then!
Surgery to remove tumour from on top of saliva gland 3rd August 09. Biopsy revealed adinoid cystic carcanoma. Further surgery 28th September 09 to remove saliva gland, nerve to top lip (buccal branch) & scar tissue. Radiotherapy finished 30 Dec 2009 IXA x 33 (60gy).

Sometime it really hurts when you smile or laugh LOL. Congrats on the feeling better.

Just a personal opinion here, but you might want to ensure your treatment plan "hits it with everything"....as for me, I know longer want the dr's to take the short route, if there is the slightest chance a little more of something just might do the trick....

57 YO, Dx 10/08 with oral cancer, Surgery 11/08 followed by six weeks of RT treatment with the MASK. Follow up on 10/15/09 found a soft spot, which turned out to be SCC. Don't know if I can receive more radiation or not since I've already received full dose.

Must admit I was really scared when they say margin of 1mm & I wondered if that was a clear enough margin, I question I shall be asking my dr when I see him next. 1 mm doesnt seem alot. Ive had my mask made & I go back on 11th for more xrays & the dr will decide then what dose of radio Im to recieve.
Real sorry to hear that its come back, please let me know whats going to happen.
