Hi, I just joined after reading hundreds of posts here. And I realize that you guys are going to tell me to have this checked out by a dentist or an ENT, but....

I have a hard lump "in" my tongue. On the right-hand side and very close to the tip. You can't see the spot unless I squeeze the tongue between my teeth, and then it looks white. You can feel the hard spot when I rub the tongue between my fingers. It is a bump, not an ulcer and it's about the size of a pencil eraaser.

I have been having panic attacks over it. Oh, a little background: 33 year old female, went to the dentist 1 year ago.

Could this be a fibroma or permanent scar of some sort? how many cases of oral cancer present as a bump near the tip of tongue?

I know I am overly worried, and I actually feel quite silly considering what everyone here has gone through.
Thanks for any input.

ktin, very interesting question. I had my check-up at Moffitt today I have the same lump in the same place. I was told it's scar tissue from the SCC tongue surgery I had in April. I'm going back in Dec for a CT Scan. I also was squeezing my tongue between my teeth for the last 2 weeks I can feel the lump.

If I were you I would get it checked to ease your mind.

SCC. of the left lateral tongue, anterior two thirds, T1 possibly a T2.

The only way you can find out if it is cancer is with a biopsy.

So you are correct, you need to see a dentist or an ENT. Hopefully, it is nothing, but the first step is getting it looked at.

Mine started out as an ulcer and eventually went deeper to create a nodular type lump.
Hopefully it will be nothing, but you're very smart to keep after it and not let this go.
