Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can put my mind at ease. I'm 5 weeks post radiation treatment to the head and neck (primary site left lateral tongue). I've developed many clear, raised bumps on the inside of my lips, cheeks, and roof of my mouth. One of them is white and patchy but the others are very clear. Is this from treatment or should I be concerned? Thanks!

they are burn blisters and they will burst and go slimy for a while but they will heal in time.Just get your doctor to check you out for thrush

Thank goodness! I'm overtaken by them...they're everywhere! I do have thrush and I'm on my third round of diflucan since beginning treatment. Thanks!

Good luck to you BelindaJo. Thrush is no fun on top of recovering from tx. I am sure you'll be seeing your ENT or RO soon and they'll confirm that everying is healing as it should . . . takes a long time.

Bill . . . SCC - originated in right tonsil, drifted into neck ( 28 lymph nodes removed - one positive ). Radical neck dissection in September 07, completed 34 radiation tx on January 4, 2008. Used Peg. Non smoker, 61, good shape, no previous health issues. Second year PET scan - "all clear".

Good luck from this corner too BelindaJo. Your Dr will fix it up and tell you what is needed for the thrush. I still fight that stuff after many months but do control it somewhat.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
