Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

So they removed your Primary and did a ND and you are waiting for the path report, correct? How was the SCC diagnosed to begin with?
I assume you have been scheduled for radiation perhaps with concurrent chemo (Cisplatin)?

The FNA my ENT did on my node took almost 3 weeks and yes it's torture.

He used to see Dr. Villaret, whom we loved, but he moved to the Carolinas : ( Now we are seeing Dr. Cohen, who has offered some treatments that really seem to be working for my husband. Who do you see?
Husband: 3 SCC gum and cheek cancers 2002, 2005, 2006: surgery only. Scans clear after removal of small, well differentiated, non-invasive cancers. No radiation. 4th SCC lip diagnosed 4/13/07 - in situ, removed in biopsy. More lip removed 2/8/08 - dysplasia. 2 Biopsies 3/17/09 no cancer (lichenoids)

IMHO, being the caregiver is as tough (maybe tougher) than being the patient. My caregiver, my spouse of more than 30 years, was top notch.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here
